How It All Began

It all came together in 1974 when Dr. Vetanze treated Denver Bronco running back Otis Armstrong for a partially torn, upper right hamstring muscle. The exam showed his ischium was significantly posterior and superior, the biceps femoris was unattached, swollen, and deformed. There was also a 1-1/2 ” right short leg, twisted pelvis and left anterior innominate.

Using blocks to balance the pelvic sacral misalignment, Dr. Vetanze repositioned the pelvis length to even. He duplicated the correction using pelvic drop on hemi-pelvis, sacrum, ischium and a dropped navicular bone in the right foot.

The result: the pelvis and leg length corrected, soft tissue therapy began and Otis healed completely. He never had hamstring issues again and went on to become an all-pro back.

This was the birth of Gravitational Pattern Alignment (GPA). It obviates the traditional theory to treat the soft tissue only, with little or no regard as to why the tissue failed. Instead, GPA takes a wholly structural perspective.

Today, Dr. Vetanze has given thousands of GPA treatments, fine-tuning the technique while adding drop correction to the feet and occiput to complete alignment.
